What to expect from a Gakushuin Club and Instructor?

Gakushuin practise karate within the social equity framework for karate, ensuring that all members maintain and foster friendship and the ability to train free from racial, social or similar prejudices. We also adhere to the policies and guidelines for child protection as formulated by the Governing Body.

All our Club Instructors hold National Governing Body Coaching Qualifications.

Gakushuin Karate actively promote and implement policies which promote safe, fun and stimulating instruction for all participants, we actively strive to ensure that all instruction is geared for safe practise, and within the framework of teaching children and adults in an effective manner.

Your Club instructor will offer you a good standard of teaching – "good" defined by safe, efficient, enjoyable and rewarding, demonstrating :

• Knowledge and skill
• Well-planned lessons
• As far as is reasonably possible, a safe practising environment
• A knowledge of emergency procedures
• An ability to work within the rules, ethics and regulations specific to the dojo and competition
• Providing opportunities, as best possible, for all students whatever their needs
• Knowledge of Karate equipment and its’ use

Your Gakushuin Club instructor will, in addition:

• Have an effective administration and record keeping system
• Be fully insured.

All club instructors attend at least one instructors’ course per year, which is a refresher and up-date course and have their qualifications re-validated and renewed every two years.
